Steelheads are dropping out of the Salmon River. There are still
a few here and there but with the low water (185cfs) it is winding
down fast. The brown trout fishing along the Lake Ontario shoreline
has been producing decent action. The trout are feeding in the shallows
at first light. The early morning bite has been critical to success.
Once the sun comes up the bite slows down quickly. The walleye fishing
remains slow out on the big lake. It's been 2-4 hits a night with
1 or 2 making it to the net. Last night we managed to boat a 12
pounder along with some decent browns. Saturday we took a trip to
Oneida Lake and found a decent bite of eater size walleyes (15-22
inchers). There's plenty of options to choose from and we have plenty
of dates available for whatever you choose.

The steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been great. The upper
river has plenty of spawners plus there is loads of dropbacks working
back to Lake Ontario. Water levels are low 335cfs. Trollers have
been hitting brown trout along the shoreline of Lake Ontario. Some
better size browns have been moving in, a 20# is leading the LOC
derby. Walleye fishing has started off very slow. We have only managed
to capture a couple the first few nights out, one was over 10 pounds.
Conditions were less then ideal either night, hopefully thing will
improve the next few nights out.

Despite high water and extreme flow fluctuations steelhead fishing
on the Salmon River is absolutely fantastic right now. In 17 years
drift boat guiding on the river, I have never seen so many steelheads
still in this late in the season. The fish are very aggressive in
the higher water - sacks, worms and plugs have all been working
well. Steelhead fishing will be excellent through most of May. Brown
trout fishing along the Lake Ontario shoreline has also been very
good. The browns are in tight- 8-12 feet of water. Stickbait off
the planer boards have been the hot producers, anything from firetiger
to natural colors have been working well. The trout are there and
they are hungry. I have been hearing good reports from Henderson
all the way to Fairhaven. Walleye season opens up in one week and
conditions are setting up nicely for the early season walleyes.
We still have dates open for May steelhead & walleye. Summer
charters for salmon and trout are also available.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been pretty good this
past week. We have been hitting fish from one end of the river to
the other. Plenty of dropbacks & spawners keeping us busy with
a few fresh chromers still coming in. Water levels are at 500cfs
but with runoff it is quite a bit higher around 1000 @ Pineville.
Steelhead will be in the river later then normal this May, the cold
high water will extend our season by 2 weeks at least. Brown trout
are biting well along the Lake Ontario shoreline from Sandy Pond
to 9 mile point. 8-15 feet of water seems to be best depths. Stick
baits run 100' off planer boards are doing most the damage. Walleye
season is fast approaching, it opens Saturday May 5. The first month
of the season we will be fishing Oswego at night for giant trophy
walleye and a few bonus brown trout. Give us a call and get your
May trip booked now! Whether it is for walleye, browns or steelhead
we will do, our best to help make great memories.

The weather and the steelhead fishing has been improving the last
few days. Water levels have been slowly receding but I expect quite
alot of runoff is still to come for April. The last 4-5 days the
Tug hill has seen at least 24'' of new snow. Coupled with several
feet still left from the winter, it is likely we will have good
water through early May. The hatchery has finished taking it's steelhead
eggs for the spring season and right on cue the drop backs have
been showing up from the top end to the bottom end of the Salmon
River. Up until the last few trips we have been picking up spawners
and fresh chromers mostly. The next month should be great! There
is ALOT of good steelhead fishing left this spring. I will be taking
steelhead trips until mid-May at least. Lake Ontario walleye and
brown trout combo trips are available in May and June as well. Give
us a call and get your fishing adventure scheduled now.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been up and down lately.
The last few days has been pretty good for us but reports from others
have not been so great. Egg sacks under floats have been working
best but we have been hitting a few on lures as well. The water
is 1800cfs at the dam and around 2500 at Pineville. That makes it
very tough on bank fishermen. Please use caution. Steelhead fishing
should be pretty good this May.
3/24/07
Steelhead fishing has been decent this past week. We have been
into fish consistently all week but still working for them. Water
levels are at 1100cfs w/ quite a bit of run-off. It's pushing close
to 1600cfs at Pineville. It is a great flow for floating the river-
plenty of options. We still have April 1,3,4,5,7,8,9,15,18,22-27,30
available.
3/19/07
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River continues to be tough for
most. We are finding a few fish here and there but plenty of voids
in-between. Egg sacks and plugs have been taking fish. Water levels
are going up again tonight -1800cfs. That is great for the boat
fishermen but no so much for bank anglers. PLEASE USE CAUTION!
3/14/07
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been tough lately. We
have been working hard to put a few fish in the boat each day. Today
was better but not good - that is for sure. There has been fresh
chromers coming through mid-lower river but not alot just yet. Water
levels are rising 1100cfs- I would expect it to get alot higher
before to long. We have plenty of dates available for spring/summer
drift boat trips and Lake Ontario Charters. Give us a call and get
your dates booked.
3/4/07
The beginning of March has brought better steelhead action to the
Salmon River. We have been fishing the lower river and getting decent
numbers of fresher fish. Bottom bouncing fresh egg sacks has been
best bet to success. Water levels are low -500 cfs and scheduled
to remain there until the 3/9.

The last week of steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been
tough. We have had to work very hard for a few fish lately. Most
steelheads have been darker with only a few freshies around. The
water levels are good- 750 cfs but the schedule has it dropping
to 500 cfs tonight. The weather has improved and looks good for
the rest of the week. I have plenty of availability for the next
few months of steelhead fishing and May/June walleye fishing. Give
a ring and get in on the fishing action!

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River continues to be pretty good.
Fighting the wintry conditions has been the tough part. The last
3 days I was fishing with Scotty and John from Pa. These guys are
die hard centerpinners for sure. Fresh egg sacks and pink worms
worked equally well. Covering a lot of water was the key to finding
the fish. Deep snow has made access from shore difficult except
around the more popular access points up river. Water level are
perfect- 750cfs and are scheduled to stay that way through the end
of February. We have plenty of dates available for winter/spring
steelhead & spring/summer walleye, salmon, brown trout charters.

Conditions have improved for steelheaders on the Salmon River.
The lots are cleared and drift boats are once again floating the
river. It's rough going along the banks but steelhead are biting
for those willing to tough it out. Cold and snowy conditions are
forecasted to continue through the weekend. Finally the break we've
been waiting for is on it's way for next week. The Salmon River
is at 750cfs until Friday. Be careful along the icy edges. Please
use caution while wading the river.
2/9/07
ALOT of snow has fallen over the Salmon River area in the last
week. For now the parking lots and the majority of the river are
mostly inaccessible. Hopefully the parking lots will be cleaned
up soon, but the county has their hands full with the main roads
for now. As of last weekend the steelhead fishing wasn't half bad.
With snow and wind, conditions were worse then tough and we still
managed fish Thursday through Sunday. Steelhead hit egg sacks on
bottom and under floats. We fished the upper river due to slush/ice
jamming up the lower end. Water levels have been at 500cfs and will
remain there for another week at least. We have plenty of dates
available for winter/spring steelhead & spring/summer walleye,
salmon, brown trout charters. Give us a ring!

River remains productive. It looks like ole man winter has come
back in full force. Water levels are low 500cfs and is scheduled
to remain low for the rest of the month. We have PLENTY of availability
throughout winter and spring. Centerpin float fishing guidance is
available for anyone interested. Our heated drift boat is one of
the largest, most comfortable and safe rides down the river.

After a decent weekend of steelhead fishing today was much tougher
on the Salmon River. The weather is finally back to normal. We have
had action on plugs and egg sacs. Mid river to the estuary has been
producing best for us lately. Water levels dropped slightly but
are scheduled to rise again -1800cfs.

Another tough weekend of steelhead fishing on the Salmon River.
During the week (Monday - Friday) the fishing was great. All the
damage was with floats and egg sacks. Then Saturday and Sunday were
very slow. We managed a few each day but nothing to brag about.
Plugs and floats both worked, but neither very well. Water levels
were on the rise after heavy rains Friday and are now running over
1700csf according to the USGS at Pineville. The water line schedule
is-
Until 9:00 PM Wed JAN 10, 1,250 CFS
From 9:00 PM Wed, until 11:59 PM Fri, 750 CFS.
We have PLENTY of availability throughout winter and spring. Centerpin
float fishing guidance is available for anyone interested. Our heated
drift boat is one of the largest, most comfortable and safe rides
down the river.

Heavy fishing pressure and colder temperatures slowed the steelhead
action the last few days. Water levels on the Salmon River have
been dropping fast. It is going down even more tonight 335cfs. We
have been fishing from top to bottom finding fish here and there,
mostly in out of the way places. Bottom bouncing sacks was working
best for us today. Give us a call and get your winter steelhead
trip booked today.
Happy New Year!

Steelhead fishing is looking really good in 2007. What a great
way to bring in the new year. Warmer weather and a bit of rain really
fired the steelhead up today. Ken and Kenny were on board once again
for another day of steelhead action. Casting floats and egg sacks
worked best. We hit steelhead at 5 out of 7 stops, mostly fresh
chromers. Kenny was on fire schooling his dad:). In his defense
Ken has a bum shoulder. Water levels are low- 335csf and scheduled
to go even lower tonight- 285cfs. Temperatures are forecasted to
remain mild for another week.
We have PLENTY of open dates for winter and spring steelhead drift
boat fishing. Give us a call.
THANKS for checking us out and to all who fished with us in 2006.
HAVE A SAFE & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Despite high water levels, steelhead fishing on the Salmon River
remains good. The Salmon River is running at 1800cfs plus a good
amount of runoff. I would expect the water levels to remain up for
the better part of this week. Yesterday we floated the upper river
and had alot of action. There's plenty of fresh silver steelheads
to play around with. Egg sacks and floats did all the damage. On
Saturday I had the pleasure of taking the webmaster down through
the lower Salmon River. She was on steelhead in almost every spot.
Again drifting floats did the trick. We hope everyone has a safe
and Merry Christmas!

Steelhead fishing has been improving the last few days. Drifting
egg sacs under floats has been producing the best results. Water
levels have been up and down alot lately.

From 9:00 PM Sun, until 9:00 PM Mon, 500 CFS
From 9:00 PM Mon, until 11:59 PM, Fri DEC 29, 335 CFS

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been slow. We have been
getting into 5-7 fish a trip landing 2-4. Some big steelheads have
been coming to the net. Egg sacks under floats and back trolling
lures has been working well lately. Water levels are up once again
at 1800cfs.
Temperatures have been mild lately but most of the runoff is from
melting snow which keeps the water temperatures low. We have plenty
of winter and spring dates available give us a call.
Happy Holidays!

12/9/06
Cold weather has put a damper on steelhead action on the Salmon
River. Frequent fluctuations to water levels have not helped out
either. Two day ago they were running 1800cfs at the dam, today
they dropped it to 335cfs. The fishing has not been bad but nowhere
near as good as last week. Conditions should be improving over the
next week. Warmer weather is in the forecast and that means melting
snow. I would guess the water level will not be down long. Give
us a call for winter/spring steelhead trips aboard my 19 foot heated
drift boat. Looking for a special gift for friend or loved one?
Hook them up with a Salmon River drift boat trip or Lake Ontario
charter. We offer fishing excursions all year round for steelhead(fall-winter-spring),
salmon(summer-fall), bass/walleye(spring -summer).

Steelhead fishing has been excellent. The mid to upper Salmon River
has been producing best for myself but I have heard good reports
from down lower as well. Casting or center pinning egg sacks under
floats has been the hot ticket to some unreal action. The water
levels have been dropping the last few days making it much easier
to fish. The river is running at 750cfs for the next few days.
The water is going down to 350 cfs tonight - 11/27/06.
We just got a cancellation for December 1st- plenty of availability
in December as well.

11/20/06
The Salmon River is producing consistently good catches of steelheads.
There are steelhead throughout the entire river. We have been hitting
fish back trolling lures and float fishing egg sacks. The water
flow is still up -1800cfs and will remain up thru Nov 25th at least.
The smaller creeks are fishing well for brown trout and rainbows.
Oswego and Black Rivers are running very high but the trout are
there are biting well. We have plenty of openings starting in December-
Right now I have November 22, 28 & 29 open. If I am filled for
a date you may want, we have quality drift boat guides that will
put you into fish. Give a call and get in on the action!

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been pretty good this
past week. Floats and egg sacks have been producing the best for
us lately. Moving along from spot to spot quickly has helped us
locate fish. Plenty of fresh steelheads have been moving through
daily. There has been plenty of fish through most of the Salmon
River. I have been floating the lower end for the most part and
finding plenty of receptive fish. We have also had the good fortune
to tangle with several bruisers recently.
Plenty of open dates for December, it's shaping up to be an excellent
month.

Rain & winds are unreal today - causing me to cancel my trip-
I can not remember canceling a trip in October before. The water
levels on the Salmon River remain very high - 1800cfs+ alot of runoff.
Steelhead fishing has been decent. Back trolling lures - mid to
upper river has been the best bet. Salmon are slowly fading away
but for those willing to search there are still a few clean ones
around.

Despite high water conditions drift boat fishing on the Salmon
River has been productive. We have been getting a mixed bag typical
to late October fishing. Plenty of salmon- kings and cohos have
been coming to the net. Steelhead are also biting well casting egg
sacks and back trolling lures. A few more brown trout are showing
up to boot. The water level is 1800cfs + ALOT of run off from the
tributaries. Winter is PRIME steelhead time- we have plenty of availability
from December thru March give us a ring to book your next drift
boat fishing trip.

Salmon & steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been pretty
decent this last week. Salmon are spawning from mid to upper river.
There are a few new ones coming in daily as well. Water levels are
rising with all the rain the last few days. The water will be very
high this weekend and bank anglers should use caution.
TIP: Steelheads are hanging in the faster funnel areas below the
gravel bars picking off loose salmon eggs tumbling down stream.

Columbus Day weekend on the Salmon River was tough. Lots of salmon
anglers enjoying the great weather on the holiday weekend. Today
was much more productive. Alot fewer fishermen and still plenty
of salmon. A few steelheads scattered throughout the river as well.
The water is running at 335cfs- a tad on the low side. For the next
week or so rain and much cooler temperatures will be pushing into
our area. We have November, December, January, February, March and
April dates available for steelheads drift boat excursions for fly
fishing, centerpinning, spinning and backtrolling. We also offer
spring/summer Lake Ontario charters for salmon, brown trout, lake
trout, steelhead and walleye.

Plenty of salmon to be had on the Salmon River NY. Mid-upper river
has been most productive since the weekend. Plenty of salmon ripping
up gravel (spawning). A few steelheads around as well. It has been
extremely crowded the last week or so. TIP: don't be afraid to get
of the beaten path- a little walk might help you get into more receptive
fish.
We are now taking reservations for 2007 spring/summer Lake Ontario
charter boat fishing for brown trout, walleye, and king salmon.

Waters UP on the Salmon River!! Heavy rain on Thursday brought
the water up to 750cfs- for this weekend. It brought the mother
load of fish up from the lake & estuary. We have done VERY very
well the last few trips. Lake Ontario and the river mouth are still
producing but it has been slower the last couple of nights. The
smaller tributariess have been getting runs with the increased water
flows as well.
Oswego has been good for most with some trout mixed in as well.

Salmon fishing has been hit or miss for most anglers on the Salmon
River and Lake Ontario NY. Mixed reports from different parts of
the river- some good & some bad- Over the weekend it was very
crowded in the more popular areas which of course doesn't help.
On the lake one trip is GREAT the next trip not so much. The estuary
is pretty well stacked up from Lake Ontario to the DSR.
We have managed to boat fish every night but not always as many
as we would like. Oswego River has been doing well from reports
I have heard from a few other guides. My dates are full until Oct
23- from then on I still have plenty of openings for steelhead,
salmon & brown
trout trips.
Late October is a good time to get into all 3 types of fish in possibly
1 trip. We also have good guides for overflow-

Action on the Salmon River has been picking up the last few days.
West winds and rain mid week spurred a decent run of kings and cohos.
Salmon have been moving through the lower - mid river at a pretty
good clip. I'd expect this run to be up top in the next day or two.
Water levels are holding at 335cfs & with run off it has been
at 500cfs in Pulaski NY. At the Salmon River mouth we've been doing
well casting rapalas at dawn and dusk. Lake Ontario was very rough
the last 3 days but the fish are biting well for those brave enough
to venture out. Last night it finally settled down just after dark.
There are plenty of kings hanging tight to shore out there. J-plugs
and spoons are still doing well for charters during the day. It
looks like we're in for another round of rain showers for Saturday
which should keep the fish moving in & up for another few days
at least.

The river is now back to 335cfs!
Other then that conditions are the same from early in the week.
The Salmon River has been decent with cohos but not as good as it
was. The cohos seem to have dispersed throughout the river, scattering
from top to bottom. Kings just don't seem to have much motivation
to run. I would expect this to change any day. The kings have been
hanging tight in the estuary and all around the river mouth. Slow
trolling glow spoons by night has still been doing well for us from
the drift boats. By day the Lake Ontario has seen good action as
well- J-plugs and spoons are taking the most fish anywhere from
8'-50' of water.

GAME ON!! It's good all over. We've been doing well at night trolling
glow spoons around the Salmon River mouth. By day the charter boats
are catching plenty once again. And to top it all off the mid to
lower Salmon River has seen the BEST run of cohos in years if not
ever. A few kings, steelheads and browns starting to run as well.
The water levels remain low 185cfs but with recent rain the runoff
has been helping out quite a bit. It's looking good all over. Keep

Salmon fishing at the Salmon River mouth has been GREAT!! The Last
few nights we've fished, the kings & cohos have been very cooperative.
Slow trolling glow spoons & plugs has been the hot ticket to
success. By day we've been taking some decent fish on the charter
boat as well. The Salmon River has been slow for the most part-
due to the low water- 285 cfs- And it's scheduled to go lower for
sunday midnight to 185cfs(cubic feet per second). This is due to
dam repairs on the upper reservoir. It's looking good for lake fishing
but not so great for the river. If it would rain then this could
change very quickly. It's all up to mother nature now- but if the
river is at 185cfs there won't be any drift boats floating down
the river until the flow increases. So expect to be fishing the
river mouth, more then likely in the evening or early morning if
you have a trip booked this month.
We still have availability & several reputable guides we can
set you up with- give us a ring and get your trip set up.
