Water levels on the Salmon River have gone up to 750cfs and will
be increasing even more soon enough. Steelhead fishing has been
good for the last 6-7 days straight- 10-15 hook-ups a day at least.
We have been getting into some really decent size steelheads. Some
steelheads have been fresh, some spawning and even a few post spawn
fish thrown in each trip. The mid-lower Salmon River has been where
we've been concentrating but I have also heard good reports from
the upper river as well as various tribs. Egg sacs and pink worms
under floats have been doing most the damage. Brown trout are starting
to show up along the lake shore but water temps are still very cold.
With conditions changing quickly we'll do our best to keep the reports
updated more often.
We still have a few dates open over the next month- 4/2,4/8,4/9,4/30-
If these dates don't work we have several very good guides that
have more availability, give us a call and we will set you up. We
also offer spring/summer walleye, brown trout and salmon charters
on Lake Ontario.
Thanks for checking us out!

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River remains decent/good some
days and tough the next.
We've been fishing all over the river and the results seem to be
the same. Egg sacks and egg pattern flies in natural colors have
been working best. The water levels have dropped to 400cfs but I
would bet with warming conditions this will increase very soon.
We still have a few dates open over the next month-3/29,3/31,4/1,4/2,4/8,4/9,4/30-
If none of these dates work we have several very good guides that
have more availability, give us a call and we will set you up. We
also offer spring/summer walleye, brown trout and salmon charters

Steelhead fishing remains just ''OK'' to decent most days with
a few really good days each week. Really the only thing that has
changed is the increased flows. The Salmon River has increased to
1150cfs with run off it's at 1530 according to the Pineville gauge-http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?04250200
I would expect this trend to continue gradually through the next
month. We still have dates open for the next few months of prime
steelhead time. Steelhead fishing remains good through mid May.
We run a 19' heated drift boat for your comfort and safety. We also
have plenty of summer charter dates open. In June & July we
offer 2 day specials on brown trout and king salmon trips trolling
on Lake Ontario.
Thanks for checking us out!

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been OK one day - great
the next. Just about the same as the last report. We have been getting
into some bruts, with a few big steelheads in the mid teens. The
water level on the Salmon River is at 900 CFS and will remain there
till at least Friday midnight. Egg sacks and pink worms under floats
has been doing well. Yesterday we actually did very good bottom
bouncing sacks. The fish are spread throughout the entire river
with more fresh fish moving up each day.

Steelhead action on the Salmon River has been up and down the last
few weeks. Weather has played the biggest factor lately. The nicer
the weather the better the fishing has been. Today we found a few
fresher chrome fish, which is always a good sign. The Salmon River
has dropped to 750cfs. The weather is going to continue to be back
and forth the next week or so. March, April and May dates are still
available but filling up quickly. We still have plenty of open dates
for summer salmon charters out on Lake Ontario.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has slowed up a bit. We're
still hitting 8-10 a trip. Still not bad but not as good as it was.
There's definitely some big bruisers in right now, we've had chances
at several the last few trips. The weather has been tough at best.
Water levels are increasing to 1800cfs- this should help us out
some. We have plenty of dates open this winter/spring for drift
boat fishing steelheads. We also have a lot of summer dates available
for charter boat fishing on Lake Ontario for salmon, trout and walleyes
check out our site - www.fishingcharterslakeontario.com.

Salmon River steelhead fishing has been VERY good. I know it sounds
like a repeat of the last few reports but just when you think it
can not get better - guess what? It gets better! This weekend was
ON FIRE!. We centerpinned fished with fresh egg sacs in the mid
to lower river. Bank access is tough with a lot of snow and ice
to contend with. This makes it easy pickens for drift boats. Light
pressure equals excellent fishing and EXCELLENT it was! We hit 3-5
fish at almost every stop, losing count of total hook-ups but we
were well over 30 just Saturday. Today we hit 1/2 that many in 1/2
a day. Most the the steelhead were average size but we did manage
to tangle with several bruiser each day. The amount of steelhead
in the river is incredible. Reports were good from up and down the
river. Water levels are a tad low- 500cfs. With warming weather
heading our way I would guess this will gradually increase with
run off. We have plenty of dates available through Spring. If I
am booked I do have several other very good guides to hook you up
with. I also offer charter fishing on Lake Ontario for Salmon, brown
trout, steelhead and walleye.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been fantastic- reports
are good up and down on the Salmon River. Water levels have receded
back to medium/low levels. 750cfs right now and going to 500cfs
for this weekend. A lot of bigger size chrome fresh steelheads have
been giving us a run for our money.
We still have plenty of openings for the rest of winter and spring
drift boat steelheading. We also offer spring/summer charters for
brown trout, salmon and walleyes. Give us a ring and get in on some
action.

Steelhead fishing is still going very well. Reports have been good
from the top to the bottom of the Salmon River.
We've been floating the upper-mid Salmon River and finding action
at most stops. There's been a good mix of fresh fish and darker
more colorful fish. Egg sacks under floats have been doing the best.
Water levels are running decent, 500cfs plus some run off. I would
expect levels to increase with warming weather and melting snow.
We still have plenty of winter/spring steelhead dates available.
We also offer Spring/Summer brown trout/salmon charters on Lake
Ontario.

Drift boat fishing the Salmon River for steelheads remains excellent.
The last 3 days we averaged 15-20 hook-ups landing 10-15 each trip.
Egg sacks under floats have been the best medicine. We have been
floating the entire Salmon River finding a few here - few there
and every now and then hitting the jackpot. Water levels have increased
with rain and snow runoff to 1150cfs at the dam and 1400+ at the
Pineville gauge. Great for boaters but tougher on bank anglers.
We have plenty of dates open though winter and spring. Give us a
call and set up your steelhead fishing adventure.
Thanks for checking us out in 2007 and making our year a fantastic
success!
Looking forward to another GREAT year for 2008.
Have a happy and safe NEW YEAR!
11/19/07
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been excellent. Cold
miserable weather has been the biggest obstacle for Salmon River
steelheaders. The water levels are low -335cfs and will remain there
unless we get a thaw or some rain. The river has been slushy in
the mornings and shelf ice has become a issue for bank anglers.
A fresh batch of silver steelhead have been steadily moving through
the lower to mid river, as well as plenty of colored up fish further
up river. A few decent brown trout have been lurking around as well.
Our drift boat is extra big and heated for your comfort and safety.
We still have plenty of winter/spring dates available along with
spring/summer Lake Ontario charters. Looking for that perfect Christmas

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River remains productive. Steelhead
have been scattered throughout the entire Salmon River. We have
been fishing upper-mid river and have had decent luck. A few other
guides I've talked with have said the lower river has been good
as well.
Float fishing the bigger holes has been the most productive. The
fish are starting to move into there winter holding spots more and
more with the cooler weather. Water levels are at a wide 750cfs
(Until 11:59 PM Fri NOV 30, 750 CFS) and I would guess it is going
to remain there for some time.
We have plenty of dates open in December and through the winter.
Drift boat trips make for GREAT CHRISTMAS GIFTS! Gift certificates
are available.
11/16/07
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River remains productive. Not as
hot and heavy as last week but still pretty good even after a very
busy Veterans day weekend. Float fishing egg sacks, pink worms and
trout beads has been working equally well. The Salmon River has
been producing some really nice steelheads already this fall. The
last few days we have fished mid-lower river and have found cooperative
fish at 3/4 of our stops. From reports on the upper river, LFZ and
DSR it sounds like it has been decent all over. Water levels are
at 500cfs and are scheduled to increase on Sunday night.
We still have plenty of dates for December and the rest of winter/spring
steelhead fishing. Give us a call and get your dates booked for
a fun fishing adventure.
11/7/07
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been GREAT! There's plenty
of steelheads up and down the river. We've been drift boating the
upper river and have had great luck lately. Bottom bouncing and
float fishing egg sacks, trout beads and egg imitation flies have
all worked for us. Water levels are good -500cfs (Until 11:59 PM
Tue NOV 13, 500 CFS). There has been some really big steelheads
being taken. We still have a lot of winter dates available. The
winter fishing has been better and better the last 2 seasons. I'd
expect the trend to continue. We have one of the largest HEATED
drift boats on the Salmon River and we'll use our guiding experience
to put you on the trophy fish of a life time!
10/28/07
Water levels on the Salmon River have returned to normal over the
week-750cfs. With the better flows drift boating has resumed once
again. Plenty of fresh steelhead are running in the Salmon River
and even a few decent looking kings around ad well. The fluctuating
water has flushed a lot of leaves and debris down the river making
fishing tough at times. The smaller tribs have been producing salmon
and a few trout but the waters been really high one day the dropping
quickly and low a day or two later. we still have a few Oct/Nov
dates open- 10/30,10/31,11/1,11/7,11/19,11/28,11/29-plenty more
dates open in Dec and throughout the winter/spring-If you would
like to book a trip on dates that I am not available we have several
very good full time guides working for us that we can set you up
with.

The salmon fishing out on Lake Ontario has gone down hill fast
this week. A lot of rain has fallen over the last 6-7 days provoking
the majority of kings to finally make their journey up river. The
big problem now is there is not enough water to float the river
in the drift boats:(. Basically we are left with few options. Bank
fishing the Salmon River has been productive but a bit crowded.
Oswego and the Black Rivers are floatable but the water has been
fluctuating a lot making it inconsistent fishing wise. Let's keep
our fingers crossed we keep getting rain - it is forecasted to continue
on and off the next 5-6 days. With a bit of luck the water levels
will increase enough to start floating.
Thanks,
Salmon River Guide
10/8/07
Salmon fishing continues to be productive off the mouth of the
Salmon River. There's still plenty of kings holding up out in front
of the river. The best fishing has been just after dark and just
before dawn. Trolling and casting glow spoons/plugs has been doing
the most damage. The Salmon River remains very low- 100cfs. There
are steady movements of fish through the lower river. Under low
water conditions the bottom end is usually the best bet. The DSR
has been very consistent this season. Rain is in the forecast -
let's hope and pray we get some heavy down pours to increase the
flows. We still have guides available this month for bank trips
or river mouth trips.
Steelhead season is coming fast, the last two season were outstanding.
We run trips from late October through mid May- YES all winter we
are catching steelheads from the Salmon River out of our 19' deluxe
HEATED Fish Rite drift boat. We offer center pinning, fly fishing,
spin fishing and back trolling lures from fall until spring. Give
us a call and get your fall/winter/spring steelhead trip booked
now.

The lake fishing remains excellent. Day or night drift boats and
charters are catching plenty of salmon along the lake shore just
off the mouth of the Salmon River. The Salmon River estuary is still
holding decent numbers of king and cohos. Although it has been crowded
the action has been pretty decent. NOW for the big news- despite
low water conditions some good runs of salmon have decided to start
their way up the Salmon River. The last few days has seen good waves
of kings moving through the lower/mid river from the DSR to Pineville
We have been getting steady rain since Wednesday night although
today had been dry again. It will take quite a bit more to increase
the flows back to normal. Hopefully we will be getting a bit more
towards the end of next week. But the fish are in! Be careful when
catching steelheads and cohos- they do look similar. Your only aloud
1 steelhead over 21''s so please don't mistake them for cohos- Cohos
will have a gray/blackish tint just inside their mouths- steelheads
are longer and slender with totally white mouths- Please try to
release all trout for future fishing. Steelheads do not die like
salmon after the spawn so releasing them will result in better fishing
for years to come! Thanks for the consideration. Thanks checking
us out! Our season has been going great! Looking forward to steelhead
fishing coming up in late October.
Thanks,

Salmon fishing at the Salmon River river mouth has been great.
Night trolling with glow spoons off the drift boats has been by
far the most productive way to take king salmon. Lake charters are
also having decent catches by day especially when the lake is a
bit choppy and there is some over cast. The river remains low and
even with rain last night and coming in for the next few days I
would not expect much change. The reservoir is very low and we will
need a lot of rain to make a difference. First light in the lower
river has been decent with mainly cohos moving through. A few kings,
brown trout and steelhead are also coming up the Salmon River just
not good numbers just yet. All the drift boat fishing will be done
at the mouth or in the estuary of the Salmon River until there is
enough water to float down the river. If you would like a guide
for the river then a bank guide is the only option. We do bank trips
and have several very knowledgeable guides for fly and spin fishing
off the bank. We also have guides that will take you to the DSR
on the lower river where the fishing has been the most productive.
6/10/07
Lake Oneida walleye fishing has been fantastic! The last few trips
we have had were filled with non-stop action. Conditions have been
ideal. Slow trolling worms and stick baits has been the ticket to
success. Shallow water 6-12' seems to be where we're finding the
most fish .Lake Ontario continues to produce great catches of brown
trout. Most browns are hanging around 9 mile point just to the west
end of the buoys. The fish are coming from 10-30' down over 20-60'
of water. Natural colors in the Michigan stingers seem to have the
best results. It has been slow so far for salmon on this end of
the lake but the thermo cline will be developing, then they will
be easier to target by the end of the month. We have also had some
family outings on the smaller lakes that produced some nice rainbows,
walleyes, bass and various pan fish. Bass season opens up next Saturday
June 16. We offer a variety of trips from Lake Ontario to Lake Oneida
and smaller inland lakes targeting them. We are offering 4 hour
trips at reduced rates until mid July. We also offer 2 day packages
for our Lake Ontario Charters through the the end of July. Book
2 days and get $100 off the second day. Our rates are some of the
most reasonable rates going for charter fishing the eastern basin
of Lake Ontario. Our one day rate is $400, book a second and it's
just $300. Thanks for checking us out!
6/4/07
Brown trout charters out on Lake Ontario have still been successful.
We've been hitting them off 9 mile point by the plant. Early morning
stick baits have been working - as the sun comes up spoons off the
riggers are doing the trick. Some bonus steelheads are mixed in
with the brown trout. A few early kings are being taken out deeper
for those willing to work hard for a few bites. Oswego harbor has
been slow for the big walleye- A few each night but nothing hot
and heavy to report.Lake Oneida has been on fire! Walleyes, silver
and small mouth bass have been cooperating each trip out. The walleyes
are decent size averaging 18-20''ers. Worm harnesses by day and
small stick baits at night have been doing all the damage.
5/27/07
Lake Oneida walleye action has been outstanding! The walleyes are
hitting worm harnesses before dark and stick baits after the sun
goes down. Plenty of silvers and small mouth bass to play with as
well. Between the walleye, silvers and bass we had over 50 fish
on landing more than 40. June and July are great months for fishing
Lake Ontario- We are offering 2 day specials for Lake Charters.
Book 2 days and get $100 off the second day. Our charter rates are
some of the most reasonable rates going for charter fishing the
Eastern Basin of Lake Ontario. Our one day rate is $400, book two
and the second day is just $300.
5/22/07
We have availability for Memorial Day week-end.
Our brown trout charters out on Lake Ontario have been doing great!
There has been decent brown trout fishing close to shore from north
to south of the Salmon River. Off shore steelhead action has also
been decent for boats willing to search for pockets of warmer water
out deep. Some salmon showing up in the 100-200' range. Walleye
fishing at Oswego has been Ok one night and slow the next. The better
action has been on the northern bays of Lake Ontario, mostly during
the day. Trolling various deep divers off in-lone boards has been
working well. Oneida Lake is also very productive lately especially
on breezy days when drifting jigs, sonars and worm harnesses. After
dark trolling small stick baits has been doing good as well. Steelhead
fishing on the Salmon River is all but finished, there's still a
few stragglers around but most have exited back into Lake Ontario.
It's now legal to target spawning small mouth bass out of season
as long as you release them. There is plenty to be had in the Salmon
River, jigs, night crawlers, spinners, and stick baits will all
work. We have plenty of dates available for any of these types of
fishing trips. Our summer/fall salmon charter dates for Lake Ontario/Salmon
River are filling in so give us a call and get your dates booked
soon as possible.

Steelheads are dropping out of the Salmon River. There are still
a few here and there but with the low water (185cfs) it is winding
down fast. The brown trout fishing along the Lake Ontario shoreline
has been producing decent action. The trout are feeding in the shallows
at first light. The early morning bite has been critical to success.
Once the sun comes up the bite slows down quickly. The walleye fishing
remains slow out on the big lake. It's been 2-4 hits a night with
1 or 2 making it to the net. Last night we managed to boat a 12
pounder along with some decent browns. Saturday we took a trip to
Oneida Lake and found a decent bite of eater size walleyes (15-22
inchers). There's plenty of options to choose from and we have plenty
of dates available for whatever you choose.
Salmon River Guide
5/6/07
The steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been great. The upper
river has plenty of spawners plus there is loads of dropbacks working
back to Lake Ontario. Water levels are low 335cfs. Trollers have
been hitting brown trout along the shoreline of Lake Ontario. Some
better size browns have been moving in, a 20# is leading the LOC
derby. Walleye fishing has started off very slow. We have only managed
to capture a couple the first few nights out, one was over 10 pounds.
Conditions were less then ideal either night, hopefully thing will
improve the next few nights out.
4/28/07
Despite high water and extreme flow fluctuations steelhead fishing
on the Salmon River is absolutely fantastic right now. In 17 years
drift boat guiding on the river, I have never seen so many steelheads
still in this late in the season. The fish are very aggressive in
the higher water - sacks, worms and plugs have all been working
well. Steelhead fishing will be excellent through most of May. Brown
trout fishing along the Lake Ontario shoreline has also been very
good. The browns are in tight- 8-12 feet of water. Stickbait off
the planer boards have been the hot producers, anything from firetiger
to natural colors have been working well. The trout are there and
they are hungry. I have been hearing good reports from Henderson
all the way to Fairhaven. Walleye season opens up in one week and
conditions are setting up nicely for the early season walleyes.
We still have dates open for May steelhead & walleye. Summer
charters for salmon and trout are also available.
Salmon River Guide
4/22/07
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been pretty good this
past week. We have been hitting fish from one end of the river to
the other. Plenty of dropbacks & spawners keeping us busy with
a few fresh chromers still coming in. Water levels are at 500cfs
but with runoff it is quite a bit higher around 1000 @ Pineville.
Steelhead will be in the river later then normal this May, the cold
high water will extend our season by 2 weeks at least. Brown trout
are biting well along the Lake Ontario shoreline from Sandy Pond
to 9 mile point. 8-15 feet of water seems to be best depths. Stick
baits run 100' off planer boards are doing most the damage. Walleye
season is fast approaching, it opens Saturday May 5. The first month
of the season we will be fishing Oswego at night for giant trophy
walleye and a few bonus brown trout. Give us a call and get your
May trip booked now! Whether it is for walleye, browns or steelhead
we will do, our best to help make great memories.
